Healthy Campus

FISU-CUSI Memorandum of Understanding for Healthy Campus Program.

Proposed and developed by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the FISU Healthy Campus program aims to improve all aspects of the well-being of students and the university community in general through the refinement and development of appropriate internationally recognized standards. Seeking to reverse the established trend of young adults to compromise their health during their academic career, the initiative, which began in early 2020 and welcomed by 50 universities from over 30 countries, has already had a positive impact on life and the lifestyles of university students around the world.

The program strongly believes that universities should be a supportive, fertile ground that encourages its participants to practice a healthy and sustainable lifestyle where access and opportunities in the areas of physical activity, health and nutrition are a daily part of campus life. This program is in line with the sustainable development goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, with the guidelines of the Unesco Kazan Action Plan, with the WHO Global Action Plan for Physical Activity 2018-2030 and with the FISU Global Strategy 2027.

To meet the diverse needs of students and staff, the program established a crosscutting approach that includes not only physical activity but also healthy campus management, mental and social health, nutrition, disease prevention, risk behavior, social responsibility and sustainability. Universities participating in the project can obtain, at the end of the program, the prestigious international recognition and the important Healthy Campus Label Certification.

CUSI, a founding member and, always, the only interlocutor of the national university sports movement for FISU and for the international university sports system, with the desire to promote and develop this path of growth of the well-being of university students of all universities in the national area, has signed a memorandum of understanding with FISU. This agreement aims at promoting the dissemination of this program in the Italian university context by offering economic reductions on the participation fees for Italian universities that intend to join it. This result is a consequence of the historical partnership between the two institutions, a sign of common visions, intentions and perspectives.
