Assegnazione Universiadi Invernali a Torino

La FISU assegna (con riserva) al CUSI i Giochi Mondiali Universitari Invernali del 2025

Si è svolta a Torino nella mattinata del 15 maggio scorso, all’interno dell’Aula Magna dell’Università degli Studi, la riunione del Comitato Esecutivo della FISU nella quale è stata assegnata l’edizione dei FISU Winter World University Games del 2025 all’Italia. Tale attribuzione, al momento condizionata dalla assegnazione entro 90 giorni delle coperture finanziarie governative necessarie a garantire la sostenibilità economica dell’evento e dalla conseguente nascita del Comitato Organizzatore, sarà ratificata, se sussisteranno le condizioni menzionate, prima della fine dell’estate.

Il protocollo di intesa è stato firmato dal CUSI, nella persona del Presidente Antonio Dima, dalla FISU, nella persona del Segretario Generale Eric Saintrond, dal Presidente del Comitato Promotore e Assessore allo Sport della Regione Piemonte, Fabrizio Ricca e dalla Sindaca della Città di Torino, Chiara Appendino.

Nel corso della mattinata sono intervenuti il Presidente della Regione Piemonte Alberto Cirio, il Magnifico Rettore dell’Università degli Studi di Torino Stefano Geuna. Particolarmente significativo l’intervento in collegamento diretto del Sottosegretario allo Sport Valentina Vezzali, campionessa mondiale universitaria in 4 edizioni delle Universiadi estive, che ha sottolineato l’importanza di questo evento per il nostro paese, per lo sport italiano e per il rilancio a livello internazionale della città di Torino.

Il Presidente del CUSI, Antonio Dima, nel suo intervento ha ringraziato la delegazione della FISU presente a Torino evidenziando il lavoro svolto da Lorenzo Lentini (membro CUSI nel Comitato Esecutivo FISU) per arrivare a questo appuntamento, il Governo per l’appoggio sino ad ora manifestato e le istituzioni accademiche e territoriali per la volontà di credere nel progetto.

L’assegnazione delle Universiadi al Capoluogo piemontese, unico candidato, è stata accolta all’unanimità dal Comitato Esecutivo della FISU. Complimenti alla dirigenza del CUS Torino e al Presidente Riccardo D’Elicio per il buon esito della giornata e, in generale, per il contributo organizzativo.

Assignment of the Winter Universiade in Turin

FISU assigns (with reserve) the 2025 World University Winter Games to CUSI

The meeting of the Executive Committee of the FISU was held in Turin on the morning of 15 May, in the Aula Magna of the University, in which the 2025 edition of the FISU Winter World University Games was assigned to Italy. This attribution, at the moment conditioned by the assignment within 90 days of the government financial coverage necessary to ensure the economic sustainability of the event and the consequent constitution of the Organizing Committee, will be ratified, with the conditions mentioned, before the end of the summer.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by CUSI, in the person of the President Antonio Dima, by FISU, in the person of the Secretary General Eric Saintrond, by the President of the Promoting Committee and Councilor for Sport of the Piedmont Region, Fabrizio Ricca and by the Mayor of the City of Turin, Chiara Appendino.

During the morning, the President of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio, the Magnificent Rector of the University of Turin Stefano Geuna had the change to support the candidature with a speech. Particularly significant was the direct connection of the Governement Undersecretary for Sport Valentina Vezzali, world university champion in 4 editions of the Summer Universiades, who underlined the importance of this event for our country, for Italian sport and for the international relaunch of the city of Turin.

The President of CUSI, Antonio Dima, in his discourse thanked the FISU delegation present in Turin, highlighting the hard work done by Lorenzo Lentini (CUSI member in the FISU Executive Committee) to reach at this appointment, the Government for the support so far demonstrated and the academic and territorial institutions for the will to believe in the project.

The assignment of the Universiade to the Piedmont capital and region, the only candidates, was unanimously accepted by FISU Executive Committee. Congratulations to CUS Torino and to President Riccardo D’Elicio for the good outcome of the day and, in general, for the organizational contribution.
